BBC - Future - Health - Why do we need to sleep?

This is a very important question, why do we need to sleep?. This is a favourite questions among children below 8. The usual answer that parents give to their children is you are tired and you should go to sleep. Nevertheless children keep on pestering their parents with the question why should I sleep, I don't feel like sleeping.

Parents fear not the answers for this age old question are here

The first answer is sleeping helps we humans to process and to bring together and form new memories. Those who sleep at night are able to recall their knowledge, memories, feelings the next day. By sleeping we can boost up our memory as the brain reconstruct the experience we went through the whole day.

The second answer is by sleeping we can push away all the bad things that happened to us through out the day. When we sleep the brain identifies the bad experience and put it aside so that we don't have to go through those hurtful experience.

The third answer is by sleeping we can experience the good memories by dreaming. We can re live our fun moments in our dream. If the events were extremely fun our dreams. Our dreams are like theatre to our mind.

The final answer is sleeping helps you to recuperate your body from all the activities we did during the day.
