Pearl of the Oriental was the first Brittish Occupied Land in Malaya. Occupied by Sir Francis Light in 1711, this island had a prefect spot for traders to come and do business and this was an ideal spot for the British. I can see now why UNESCO has made this island as a heritage centre.
